TV Series DVD

I am one of the original browncoat fans - I watched this show live on Fox back when it was originally broadcast. I would tell all my friends to come over and watch it when it was on (not that it did us any good, it was still canceled in the end).

This is character drama at its finest. By the end of the first episode, you will already love the characters. All the more amazing is that there are so many characters to know! But as the show goes on, you learn a little more about each of them. It's rare that you find a TV show that makes the people the center of the show, but this show pulls it off in spades.

Did I mention that it's a show set in space, and sometimes they act a little bit like cowboys? Don't let that throw you off. For most movies or TV shows that are set in space, I'd say "If you're not a fan of this genre, this show/movie/whatever won't change your mind." Well, in this case, don't worry about the space or cowboy theme - this show WILL change your mind. You will grow fond of the people and the ship they travel in, come to appreciate the worlds they travel through and the characters they meet, and be shocked by the choices they make.

I as much as any original browncoat was crushed to see the show get canceled: imagine all the stories they could have told! We could have found out more about the blue-handed men, or what Shephard Book's past was, or what was up with Inara's vial - but we really never will. Instead, we got some of the best TV you'll ever see in a very imaginative world.

I should point out that every one of my friends that I showed the show to ended up loving it. All of them, even my friends that "don't watch TV."

You will be quoting this show for a while: "Pain is scary." "Shiny." "You buy this ship, treat her proper, she'll be with you the rest of your life."

I have always loved this show and I finally saved up enough money to buy this set. I think its worth every penny. The only bad part I have found is that one of my discs would not play in one of my dvd players, I thought it was a bad disc (and it probably is) but it played in a different player... very strange. I have only found this to happen with one of the discs. Five stars for the show itself; five stars for this wonderful box set with all of its extras and its fabulous design. Zero stars for the condition of the case :( Like other reviewers have stated, the front flap/cover of the box was ripped off upon removing the plastic from it. I'm pretty sure my set was new and not used, and the package that came in the mail was not damaged. I think this is just a design flaw. I don't see how the flap *could* stay attached after opening once or twice. The joint where the flap joins the rest of the box is just paper - it's not reinforced by anything, and it's not really flexible or heavy-duty. I'm going to try to find some sort of archival-safe adhesive to try to put the pieces back together (the joint was visibly damaged upon receipt, and it ripped off completely the first time I gently opened it). I'm a little bummed about this, but at 51% off, this set was a great deal. The CDs and DVDs all appear to be in great shape - none were loose and none are scratched. This is a hilarious English TV show about 2 roommates and their "loves". The laughs are plentiful, the humor spot-on and it's just plain fun comedy. One buyer bought one of the Addams Family individual volumes (Addams Family Vol. 1, I think). She/he thought it was copmplete season set. It doesn't say "complete series" because it isn't. All one has to do is to read what it states to know what it is and is not.
The COMPLETE Series is complete, and as of 11/22/09, is the only way to get a commercial, studio-released complete set of the awesome series.
What we needed in this set was the 1977 Halloween with the Addams Family as an extra. Now that as far as I know they didn't do it, PLEASE release it separately on a good quality DVD release! What a great opportunity to have a great extra on this set, the only Addams Family in color, as far as I know.
It is worth gwtting the complete series, not some 3 volume partial set, which they should have never done.
People who want classic shows want the COMPLETE series, and they did this with the release of this DVD set.
I didn't give it 5 starts because they blew it by not including the Halloween special from 1977, and they used double-sided discs from what I can tell from other information.
If you wnat a studio-released complete set, however, this is the only way to get it.

To be honest the main reason to watch this show is the beautiful Milena Govich, the 13 episodes of the 1 and only season were typical courtroom drama fare seen many times before. Milena makes the show more watchable just because she's so gorgeous you can't take your eyes off of her.
